Q: I just got an oral or genital piercing. How long should I wait before having sex?

A: A fresh piercing should be treated just like an open wound to the body, so it's best not to expose it to potentially infectious body fluids until it has fully healed (@ 8-10 weeks depending on the piercing). Condoms and dental dams should provide you with proper protection from infection when used correctly. Your piercer should be knowledgeable enough to let you know when it's safe to play with a pierced area again.
