Young Activists Reflect on Identity, Community, and Diversity Among Asia's MSM

One of the greatest challenges to slowing the spread of HIV/AIDS among men who have sex with men (MSM) in Asia lies in the rich complexity of MSM communities across the region¡ªand the necessity of tailoring prevention and education messages for each community. Recently, four young MSM from Southeast Asia-AIDS prevention and education advocates¡ªspoke with the TREAT Asia Report about the issues of identity, community, politics, and stigma that they all encounter in the course of their work.

25th SF International Asian American Film Festival

This silver anniversary edition of the San FranciscoInternational Asian American Film Festival (March 15-25) features 125 titles:narrative features in competition, highlights from the festival's archives,cutting-edge documentaries and a wide variety of short films, including theannual program of Asian music videos. A highlight in the documentary divisionis openly gay director Arthur Dong's examination of a century of ChineseAmerican filmmaking, Hollywood Chinese (3/18,Castro). The Festival has new venues forfilms and special events: AMC 1000 Van Ness Theatres and Landmark's Opera PlazaCinema join the Castro Theatre, the Palace of Fine Arts, the Asian Art Museum,Berkeley's Pacific Film Archive and the Camera 12 Cinemas in San Jose.
