Currently, there are two ways to volunteer
with iRice:
- The iRice Committee
- Chat room outreach volunteer
If you want to contribute in other areas, such as helping
out on the web site, design banners and posters, organizing
events, or any ideas that you might have. Please feel free
to contact us and discuss it
further. Ideas are always welcomed.
iRice Committee:
Responsibilities:
- develop education and outreach activities based on ACAS
values, goals, objectives and resource needs
- develop and monitor the implementation of work plan, included
but not limited to, the following area: planning and implementing,
recruitment, training of volunteers and provide technical
internet support.
- Coordinate with Gay Men education outreach coordinator
to carry out task
- attend meetings, usually every 3 weeks or as deemed necessary
by the committee
Chat room outreach volunteer:
Responsibilities:
- log on to chat room in a regular basic
- promo ACAS and iRice events, and what we do in the Asian
communities
- inform about HIV/AIDS, ACAS and iRice services and refer
clients to resources upon request
- NO personal involvement with client(s) at any time during
outreach (e.g., exchanging phone numbers, engaging physical
or sexual contact)
- Maintaining confidentiality of client (e.g., not discussing
any information learned during outreach sessions)
